Shifts: booking, the day, and ending a shift
This guide is for a support worker. Book work against an active service agreement, enter the actual times, then write the note.
Log a shift on the web
Open Shifts → Log shift. Choose the participant agreement and agreed support code, then enter the service dates, times, location, state and timezone. Choose the charge type. For hourly supports leave quantity blank. For travel or other non-hour supports enter the quantity in the catalogue unit and use its separately agreed code. Select Log shift, then open the saved shift to write its note. Update delivered details before signing if the work changed.
Before you start
You need an agreement signed by both required people. See Service agreements. Use your own worker account; Web or phone, and signing in explains how.
The worker app has Today, Schedule, Add, Alerts and Settings tabs.
Book a shift
- Tap Schedule to see your week, or Add, then Book a shift.
- Choose the participant and agreement.
- Enter Date, Start time and End time.
- Enter the location and postcode, and choose the service state. Read the time zone shown.
- Choose a support item priced in the agreement, the claim type and any other required answers.
- Tap Check price. Check the duration, cost and budget information when available.
- Tap Confirm booking and wait for Shift booked.
Booking needs a connection. An old schedule saved on your phone is not a new confirmed booking. Repeating shifts are unavailable on this phone; book each one separately.
If a budget warning appears, read it before choosing whether to proceed. A missing budget preview is not evidence that enough funding remains.
Requests from participants
Open shift requests from Schedule. Where offered, choose Accept request, Propose another time, or Decline. A proposed time or declined request is not a booked shift. Check the result after sending your decision.
On the day
- Open the next shift from Today or Schedule.
- Tap Start shift when it is available for the service date.
- Tap Clock in when the work starts. Use Adjust start time if the recorded start needs correcting.
- Tap Clock out when the work ends.
- Check the actual times. If they differ from the booking, use Adjust times as requested.
- Tap Continue the note and follow Shift notes.
A running shift can show that it is saved on the phone while offline. That does not make every shift action available offline: opening a shift detail or making a booking may still require a connection. Follow the saved or queued status shown.
If something goes wrong
- No active service agreement. Finish both signatures first.
- Adjust date or Adjust times. Check the agreement dates and priced time bands. Do not assume a weekday rate covers evenings, weekends or public holidays.
- The action was not confirmed. Refresh the schedule or shift record before trying again.
- You are offline. Keep any saved draft and reconnect. Do not count a pending action as accepted.
Next: Shift notes, then Timesheets.
